Engulfed in Scorsese’s Wolf of Wall Street, there was something I really wanted. And it wasn’t Jordon Belfort’s lifestyle of frivolity, debauchery and dominance – it was his ridiculously lavish penthouse. Endless views across The Big Apple, a vast amount of open floor and mod cons aplenty – what’s not to like? Yup, I want it – and for $6.5million, as it currently stands on the market, it could be mine.
Surely, a luxury apartment is up there near the top of every Gentleman’s wish list. Just behind a date with our current woman of the week Gisele Bundchen. She’s… well… bloody great. Anyway, I digress.
Sticking with beauty though, anything NYC can offer, London’s apartments and penthouses can match – if not surpass. In fact, our property of the week eclipses Belfort’s pad in a similar vein to how Blenheim Palace does a multi-story car park.
ONE HYDE PARK APARTMENT, KNIGHTSBRIDGE
First things first, the price: £68million. Sure, it’s a fair wad to part with, but for this princely sum you are acquiring one of London’s most spectacular apartments in what is surely the world’s most exclusive residential development. But you also get so, so much more than just prime location. When punching in your pin you open your arms to 5 bedroom suites, a study, media room, 50m entrance hall, reception room, a huge kitchen and dining room, and 9,000 square feet designed by world leading interior designers Candy & Candy. And the view is there as well, with glassed walls and a balcony allowing you to soak in vistas of Knightsbridge and Hyde Park.
And – pause for breath – thrown into this hotchpotch of brilliance are the benefits of living within One Hyde Park: a library, business suites, entertainment room, cinema, wine storage, gym, swimming pool and spa, and secure underground parking. This has to be, truly, the ultimate London apartment.
I think a date with Gisele just slipped to second on my wish list.
