Nestled within over 200 acres of rolling green countryside, yet less than an hour from central London, Sussex House Farm is rural idyll at its most convenient.
Location, however, is far from its only appeal. The two and a half story, timber framed structure (which forms the core of the main house) dates back to the 16th century, and presents an utterly picturesque image. This is matched by an abundance of striking architecture in the interior, with exquisite timbers, an impressive oak staircase, and original carved panelling. Renovations over the past fifteen years, however, ensure that despite its history the Grade II listed building is fully equipped for contemporary life. Additions include an in-home entertainment system, under floor heating, and a state of the art kitchen which overlooks the terrace, swimming pool, and land beyond through oak framed glazing.
Outside – aside from the pool – are a floodlit tennis court, a beautifully maintained garden (including kitchen garden), and three external cottages. Eastwards of the main house is a converted barn, with not only substantial guest and staff accommodation, but a first-floor gymnasium. The range of farm buildings feature stables, paddocks, and both an indoor and outdoor menage, making the farm any equine enthusiast’s paradise.
The surrounding farmland is contained within a single block, of which approximately 172 acres are grassland, carefully farmed in a conservative ethos. The remaining 19 acres of woodland offers the potential for a small shoot, and the farms also adjoins an 18-hole golf course.
Providing comfortable family luxury, and an abundance of entertainment, Sussex House Farm leaves little to desire in any department.
