![Property of the week: the stunning Newberg House](https://cdn.sanity.io/images/vxy259ii/production/98db52764a4a6f19f1cdf71609eb0be6cebe5a38-491x490.jpg?auto=format&crop=focalpoint&fit=max&q=80&w=246)
Mansions, penthouses, apartments in building blocks; they’re all contenders to be some of the most beautiful properties. But Newberg House, a 1,440 square foot residence with a 550 square foot guest house as a bridge, is breaking boundaries when it comes to the luxury housing market. The daily that built this beauty have always had a strong, innate connection with the living world and that was very much integrated into the design of the home. Sitting over a pond, the aim was to give the impression of a single entity out of the water and into the residence.

Aside from the prospect of the house itself, details include the wild animals visiting the water, that can of course be viewed in through the glazing on the pond facing side; the small deck at the rear which functions as a diving board; the entrance that takes visitors from their parking spot 150 metres away, through the forest and across a bridge to the entrance. And what an entrance… The stunning vista of the pond is only revealed through the opening of the door, in a way that can’t fail to install it in the memory of anyone lucky enough to be invited. This is a piece of architecture not just designed to live in, but to create a lasting impression.

In keeping with the natural aesthetics, the interior is mainly crafted out of wood, including not only the floors and ceilings but the majority of furniture and features. Such discreet design ensures that, whilst it being an environment of elegant comfort and understated luxury, nothing about the interior distracts the eye from the remarkable setting.

It would take some searching to find a better escape from the daily stress and grind of modern city life.
