Property of the Week – The Brick House

Words: Violet

As we all know, space to build in London is becoming more and more of a rarity. This is why this property named The Brick House is architecturally very special. A cunning combination of lateral loft-living and conventional rooms, the impressive home has managed to not only fit but thrive at the end of the desirable cul-de-sac at the end of Notting Hill. The inspiring designers behind The Brick House are architects Caruso St John who have been affectionately described by art critic Stephen Bayley as “modest, respectful and appropriate”.

This property is called The Brick House for a reason- inside and out it is built entirely of bricks. Though it might not be to everyone’s taste, stripped back and understated, The Brick House makes a welcome change to some of the garish, flashy structure seen around the capital. Upon entering, guests walk into a large Entrance Hall offering spectacular views of the gardens beyond. In a slightly unorthodox fashion, the bedrooms including a master bedroom suite are downstairs so plenty of quiet from the city.

Outside, the property has three gardens so, quite amazingly, there is a whole lot of outside space to enjoy when the sun is shining!
