The Kitzbühel Estate
The largest chalet in Kitzbühel is currently on the market, with a correspondingly outsized price tag of €35 million.
It looks a joy to stay in; everything you could want for optimum relaxation is here, in a clean-lined, modern Alpine interior.
10 bedrooms mean you can host with abandon; the relaxed dining room suits 16 and opens straight out onto the terrace. A roomy wine cellar – de rigeur for this style of luxury chalet – will keep your guests happily lubricated, just in the case the stunning panoramic views over the Wilder Kaiser, Hahnenkamm and Kitzbüheler Horn mountains don’t leave you quite drunk on nature.
The resort has a wealth of summer activities, and we could well spend the long summer holiday at this residence. There’s an outdoor pool with pool house, golf room and big gardens to roam in. For year-round entertainment (in the unlikely event boredom ever strikes…), there’s a cinema room and a wellness area.
Chalet Poinsettia, Verbier
More modestly priced (just) is Chalet Poinsettia in Verbier, going for CHF 12.5 million. If the newly opened, much talked about W Hotel isn’t your scene, opt for this family chalet. It’s in a picture-perfect position, beside a mountain stream and in a hamlet development with just two other chalets. Rest assured though – inside it is fully up-to-date on the tech front, with Lutron lighting, pop-up TVs and underfloor heating.
For those looking for a natural Alpine high, Chalet Poinsettia has a yoga room (although the wrap-around balconies would be our choice for an invigorating sun-salutation). Either way, you can cool off afterwards in the adjacent sauna and steam room.
Chalet Le Sittelle and Le Picotin, Verbier
If you’re planning a faster-paced Verbier stay, this double-chalet gem is your cup of glüwein.
Ski-in, ski-out from the slope of Le Rouge, there’s no more hauling skis along tarmac.
Completed in 2009 by local architecture supremos Comina, this chalet duet is exquisitely finished. Le Sittelle is the main chalet, connected underground to Le Picotin which has two guest bedrooms and its own separate living areas and ski room. Luxurious Italian stone and mature wood grace Le Picotin too; your guest will want for nothing.
Back in Le Sittelle, special features include a hammam and an entertainment room with mirrored bar, theatre-lighted dance floor and acoustic insulation. Put simply: your own nightclub. Purify after the excess in the in-house hammam.
For more sophisticated entertaining, the drawing room is impressive, with an intricately carved 19th-century wooden ceiling and large stone fireplace.
For summer living, there is a wonderful landscaped garden.
Chalets Le Sittelle and Le Picotin are going to make one lucky gentleman (or gentlelady) very, very happy. Price on application.
