BMW have confirmed that the M4 model, due out in 2014, will be powered by a 3.0 litre, twin-turbo six-cylinder engine. The peak power will be around 424bhp, and peak torque will be increased to at least 369lb ft. Meanwhile, a six-speed gearbox will be fitted as standard, and a seven-speed twin clutch transmission will be optional. BMW have also continued their weight-reduction project, and the M4 will have a kerb weight of 1,500kg.
So what does all of this actually mean? It means that the BMW M4 will be fast. It will be light. It will be durable. And, most importantly, it will be desirable. The launch date and price are yet to be confirmed, but we’re hedging our bets that this car will be one of the most popular of next year. It may be a concept right now, but we expect that the design won’t change too much – and why should it? It’s gorgeous. Muscular, mighty and magnificent.
