In 2020 New York-based fashion brand Aimé Leon Dore unveiled the first of its collaborations with Porsche, which has seen the two companies restore one-off classic Porsche models. These bespoke cars have taken the form of a 911 Carrera 4 (type 964) in box fresh white, reminiscent of the shade of Aimé Leon Dore’s flagship store in Manhattan, as well as a 911 SC in a brawny olive hue, stacked high with a roof rack piled with personal items inspired by Aimé Leon Dore founder Teddy Santis’s childhood vacations in the Greek islands. In 2023, and indeed the latest collaboration between the pair, the duo released a seriously sleek Porsche x Aimé Leon Dore 356 B, which came in a handsome midnight navy hue and featured aluminium wheels.
Now Porsche and Aimé Leon Dore have unveiled its latest do-up: the 993 Turbo. The new drive, which is the fourth official collaboration, is a reinvention of the Turbo that was released three decades ago. The ALD Porsche 993 Turbo model is finished in Mulberry Green, which is a colourway that has been developed by Aimé Leon Dore and Teddy Santis over the years and is now a signature of the brand, used on everything from caps to socks and polo shirts to jackets.
But this collaborative car isn't just a visual delight, but actually comes with several significant technical upgrades added too. These include the installation of the exhaust and front splitter and ‘whale tail’ rear wing from the 993 Turbo S – this will enhance the car's dynamic performance. 18-inch Porsche Turbo Twist Rims painted in matching Mulberry Green with a gold accent and fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 tyres, make this a fully functioning ride.
Inside the car offers up the cosiest drive possible. Dark brown leather, lambswool accents and hardback seats are complimented by teddy bear brown carpets and furry details on the dashboard. A custom gold Unisphere gear knob – the Unisphere is the iconic globe that’s a symbol of Queens, the New York City borough in which Aimé Leon Dore was founded – and door sills featuring the phrase ’A team from outta Queens with the American dream’ give it the Aimé Leon Dore edge.
To coincide with this new one-of-one drop, and for those who can't get their hands on the wheel of the 993 Turbo, there's a collection release. Titled 993 Aimé, inspired by the restoration at hand, the collection spans outerwear and classic football shirts emblazoned with Porsche and ALD motifs, as well as a pair of New Balance sneakers.
