Polestar, the Swedish EV maker, is celebrated for its clean lines and elegant forms – design sensibilities synonymous with Scandinavian style. In its most recent move, the marque has also leaned into another element heavily associated with the region: the great outdoors. Announced in recent days, Polestar has revealed a trio of Arctic Circle cars that are intended to ‘showcase Swedish performance DNA’ – an idea originally realised in 2022, when the label applied a special formula to its Polestar 2, and has now expanded to Polestar 3 and Polestar 4.
The result is a set of rally-inspired, one-off wheels that were born in one of Polestar’s Swedish R&D facilities. The core formula comprises specialised Pirelli studded tyres; a raised ride height with custom three-way adjustable Öhlins dampers; rally-inspired mudflaps; new Quad Evo front spotlights from Stedi; and bucket seats courtesy of Recaro. Whereas Polestar 2 and Polestar 3 have Thule WingBar Edge roof rails, Polestar 4 has specialised ski mounts. 3 also comes with a Fiskars SnowXpert shovel, and snow ladders.
Polestar CEO Michael Lohscheller said: “The Arctic Circle collection illustrates our unique performance DNA, rooted in motorsport and combined with Scandinavian design. We develop our cars under challenging conditions within the Arctic Circle in Sweden, and at the FAT Ice Race [where the cars made their public debut, on 1 February] we will showcase that on ice there is nothing better than a Polestar.”
