Pierre Victoire – Soho’s cosiest French bistro restaurant
5 Dean Street, London, W1D 3RQ, Tel: 020 7287 4582
Sat in the heart of central London and perfect for the light working lunch.

I was first introduced to this French bistro by my brother, who works just round the corner on Greek Street. However, my first impressions were not great. For my first time, I went in the evening for a family meal with one of my mothers closest friends, this was around the Christmas before last. The restaurant was heaving which normally means quite a buzzy atmosphere, however, we could barely hear each other speak, and resorted to shouting at each other for the whole evening.
Since then thanks to my brothers determination to make me give it a second chance I have been three or for times for lunch and have been unable to make one complaint. This restaurant has to be the best in terms of value for money in the whole of London. For a two course set menu at lunch it costs only £9.90 and for dinner £12.90. Considering this is an independent restaurant, with just one other sister restaurant, this is fantastic value for money.

It attracts many of the trendy types that work in industries such as media and fashion. This is to be expected due to its location. The décor is very rustic and authentic, adding to the charm of the place, but most importantly considering the prices, the food is great. For starters they serve some French classics such as Pan-Seared Foie Gras, Gilled Mussels and Deep Fried Brie. For the mains they offer a range of warm and hearty meals such as Roast Honey Duck, Filleted Whole Sea Bass and Herb crusted Gratin of Cod Mornay, which I had last time I went, and it was delicious. The Cod is wrapped in Parma ham and comes with Spinach and hand cut Smoked Paprika Chips.
If you work or live locally, Pierre Victoire, is definitely a must try, as the food is great, not to mention it is nearly as cheap as Prêt a Manger or Eat. We recommend going there for Lunch and ask the waiter for his wine recommendations, as they have a good list and a wine to suit each dish.
