Gin2 - TGJ.01

Warner Edwards is one of the newest and most exciting brands to join the British craft distillery movement, bringing something truly special to the growing craft gin category.

There is a lovely story behind the brand, which is built upon a lifelong friendship between Englishman Tom Warner and Welshman Sion Edwards. They distil their gin in an old converted barn on Tom’s family farm in the rural Northamptonshire village of Harrington. While everything is done by hand on-site in England, they source their ingredients from each of their farms situated on either side of the English-Welsh border.

This story inspired and directed the Warner Edwards slogan and distinctive brand design. The label shows a weather vane with ‘W’ and ‘E’, which stands for Warner and Edwards, West and East and Wales and England. Above the vane there is a dragon (symbolic of Wales) and a lion (symbolic of England) sharing a glass of gin, underneath the tagline ‘United in Spirit’. All in all, it’s a quintessentially British gin to be proud of.

Their signature gin, Harrington Dry Gin, is a stunning premium artisan gin, which is produced in batches of just 700 bottles at a time. It’s distilled using the one-shot method in a traditional copper pot still, affectionately called ‘Curiosity’. It takes a total of 7 hours for Curiosity to complete the distillation process, whereby she combines a neutral grain (barley) spirit, natural spring water and eleven carefully balanced botanicals, including juniper, elderflower, coriander and cardamom.

It’s a delicious and exceptionally pure gin. When drunk neat, you’re lured in by the intense aroma of spice and citrus on the nose, followed by a strong dose of juniper on the palate, with fresh citrus and floral notes, finishing with a long-lasting rich, warm and spicy flavour that leaves a mouth-watering taste in your mouth, tempting you to take another sip. Due to its well-balanced flavour profile, it’s a wonderfully versatile gin that is pure enough to drink neat or as a martini and capable of holding its own in a gin and tonic.

Since its launch in December 2012, Warner Edwards has been incredibly well received by the market, winning a string of prestigious awards, including a silver medal in the 2013 International Wine and Spirit Competition (IWSC) for their Harrington Dry Gin. They have also produced a limited-edition Elderflower Harrington Gin and are due to launch a limited-edition Harrington Sloe Gin in December, which can be pre-ordered from the Warner Edwards website, just in time for the festive period.

We think that Warner Edwards is definitely one to watch, so we highly recommend ordering a bottle and booking a distillery tour to experience this unique creation for yourself. Trust us, it’s worth every drop!
