Oliver Sweeney cooks up a storm with their latest collaboration

Joining forces with Marcus Wareing, this is the Chef’s Shoe

They say that too many cooks spoil the broth. And that may be true in the kitchen – but the latest in shoemaker Oliver Sweeney’s line of creative collaborations proves that the same can’t be said for shoes.

For his latest project, Sweeney’s Cobbler-in-Chief Tim Cooper has employed the help of Michelin-starred chef Marcus Wareing to create the Chef’s Shoe. After meeting Wareing at a dinner party years ago, the two have remained close, and decided to design a shoe that you could spend all day cooking in, but still remain smart enough to entertain with.

Integral to the design was the similarity between the shoemaking and cooking process. Finely sourced ingredients and materials, a focus on what the customer wants and – above all – excellence without pretence.

And this is what came out of the collaboration: a formal dress shoe that is extremely flexible, non-slip and, most importantly, incredibly stylish. Intricate details make the beauty of this shoe unparalleled – from the knife blade-inspired splash of colour to the subtle stitching of M and W.

What’s more, the cobbler has cleverly used food as an inspiration for the colourings of the Italian calf leather shoes, with the black coming with a duck-egg blue contrast stripe, and the chocolate brown featuring a splash of raspberry red.

The limited edition collection is available to buy now and, in our opinion, looks good enough to eat.
