The 81-year old architect has defined New York’s skyline. He dreamed up West 57th Street’s Hearst Tower, and the glass-fronted Sperone Wastewater Fallery. Recently, he began work on a trio of residential towers, Zeckendorf’s 42-story 50 United Nations Plaza, 551 West 21st Street, and finally, the slender, 61-story One Hundred East Fifty Third Street.
Worth over $1 billion and dubbed “The Donald Trump of Russia”, Doronin develops ultra-luxe properties, and has managed to land floors 4 to 24 of the Crown Building on Fifth Avenue. He is currently using the 300,000 square feet to build condos.
Another architect, Bannister graduated from the Princeton School of Architecture and helped rebuild Manhattan’s skyline after 9/11 – with his imagining of the new One World Trade Centre Tower. The developer also helped overhaul 432 Park Avenue – prime real estate.
At just 4-years old, Sumaida and Khurana’s development company is dazzling. Just some of the jewels that it has contributed to the NYC skyline are the condominium on 152 Elizabeth Street and the under-construction 611 West 56th Street – a 35-story residential tower.
As well as landscape and product designing, developer Chan made his US debut recently with West 29th Street’s Soori High Line – a residential development where a staggering 16 of the 31 units (that’s over half) have their own private pools.
Former White House Fellow Reffkin uses a special algorithm to help price and locate his next development. With over $1 billion in listings currently, look out for 100 East 53rd Street and the coveted 740 Park Avenue – both under the wing of this 35-year old wunderkind.
He may be most famous for creating Madonna’s LA home, but Drake is also known on the east coast. He helped Mayor Bloomberg restore Gracie Mansion in 2002, and now is at the helm of homes at the 90 storey One57 and a full floor of apartments at Herzog and de Meuron’s Tribeca base.
Famed for unapologetically bold designs, Ingels creates buildings that really make their mark on New York. Just check out W57, a giant residential pyramid with a cutout courtyard in the middle. Angels is also working on the new Two World Trade Centre – with a seven-tiered tower envisioned.
This 76-year old has a thing for comfort. He designed the Chatham on 65th street – and now lives there. But that’s not the only thing Stern has done for the city. 15 Central Park West is his most iconic project, and he shows no sign of slowing down. Look out for builds on Park Avenue, East End Avenue and the Four Seasons Private Residences downtown opening soon.
