Words: Gentleman's Journal
The 2015 edition of the Monaco Grand Prix, arguably the world’s most eagerly anticipated sporting event, will take place next month amid its usual hustle, bustle and hedonism. On May 21-24, the tiny principality will again burst at the seams with visitors heading in from all corners of the globe to watch the high-adrenaline race unfold. There are many places from which you can do this. The grandstands offer specially allocated VIP terraces, but the best spot of all is undoubtedly on-board a superyacht.
This kind of event embodies everything that goes along with a luxury yacht – the glamour, the exclusivity, unlimited comfort and five-star service. The views are also exceptional, perfectly situated in Port Hercules with trackside views of the historical Monte Carlo route. For those lucky enough to be able to charter a yacht for the event and the few that manage to secure a berth for their own vessel this is the ultimate way to spend a weekend. But even with a more modest budget you can still experience the race in style on one of the yachts offering VIP viewing packages. Here’s our pick of the bunch…
BLUE VISION
The 44-metre Benetti-built Blue Vision will be berthed along the prestigious Quai des Etanis with prime views of the tunnel exit, chicane and out towards Tabac Corner. Plasma screens will also be dotted throughout the decks to ensure none of the action is missed. With her elegant interior and generous outdoor areas, including a luxurious sundeck with sunpads and Jacuzzi, she provides a fantastic setting to enjoy the weekend. The package has various options depending on when you want to go and subsequently how much you want to spend. Breakfast and lunch is included in the price and optional extras include the opportunity to have drinks with Formula 1 legends and an invitation to a glamorous yacht cocktail party.
GIORGIA
The 37-metre motoryacht Giorgia is offering three options with viewing packages available for the Saturday, Sunday or both. The ‘stay-on-board package’ provides a rare chance to get the full Monaco Grand Prix superyacht experience right at the centre of the action. Guests are invited to stay in one of her five beautiful cabins for three nights, allowing you enjoy both races from the comfort of her decks as well as all the post-race celebrations in the port. All food prepared by her on-board chef is included and a full bar service will be run by her expert crew throughout the weekend.
Full details about the viewing package can be found here.
