This is making us reconsider the floral shirt…

Uniqlo has forged a reputation as the go-to spot for timeless wardrobe basics. Its commitment to stylish simplicity makes it the sartorially inclined brand of choice for constructing the foundations of an eternally on-point repertoire. But this minimal aesthetic has been rewritten and reconsidered with its latest collaborative effort.

The essential Japanese retailer has partnered up with famed Regent Street establishment Liberty, to release a collection of shirts in spring-ready florals from the store’s storied archive. A collection that taps into the best of both sides of this marriage between two of fashion’s biggest names.

Over its 140-year history, Liberty has become a bastion of British fashion and monument to the eclectic. Assimilating cultures from around the world, with a particular penchant for ornaments, prints and art from Uniqlo’s heartland, the brand’s back catalogue is as impressive as it is unrivalled. This new offering echoes that, supplanting Uniqlo’s revered restrained approach with a distinct boldness; the perfect meld of on-trend modernism and tradition as the Japanese stalwart’s favoured silhouettes are decorated with a range of prints from Liberty’s globe-trotting collection.
