Luca Faloni: the Italian brand takes on the English Riviera
Luca Faloni has become one of the most-loved brands by men in the world
Words: Zak Maoui
Luca Faloni is the Italian designer whose clothes are classic in design, but has a wide-reaching appeal. Over the course of the past few years, it's growth has been impressive, and some of the most stylish men now consider it their go-to label for sleek separates. Prince William wears the polo shirts and linen shirts, while a host of other celebrities, including Cillian Murphy and Penn Badgley, have recently been spotted wearing the brand's minimal and discreet clothing. Before quiet luxury swept across menswear, Luca Faloni was doing it best with his Italian Riviera style.
Inspired by the rich Italian tradition of working with the best fabrics in the world, Luca Faloni forged partnerships with the most experienced local artisans to bring to life a linen shirt that reflects the unique Italian heritage. Faloni only uses premium and, where possible, natural fabrics. Northern Italy is home to some of the oldest textile mills in Europe and Luca Faloni knows where to find the very best. The brand only uses pure cashmere and silk-cashmere from Cariaggi and linen from one of the oldest Italian mills. Its linen comes from Albini, while its pique’ comes from a historic mill in Veneto.
When it comes to the clothes, everything is classic in design. Nothing is trend led, per se, but it has a timeless quality. Of particular note is the Paramontura collar on the classic shirts has become a customer favourite, thanks to its versatile design and class. While it is Italian in design, with linen shirts in a range of colours from Capri blue to summer yellow, and knitted polo shirts and lightweight T-shirts making up the best of its line-up, it's the clothing that works well just about anywhere in the world.
And that's why so many guys are wearing Luca Faloni, whether it's in New York City, London, or indeed the coast of Italy. Luca Faloni and Gentleman's Journal have been partners for many years, and for this next step in the relationship, we took the brand to our very own English Riviera, Salcombe. Founded on the philosophy of slow fashion, Luca Faloni's clothes suit the whimsical and calm pace of the Salcombe shores. Its shirts are fit for the pub, while its swim shorts and straight-cut trousers are ideal for walks on the beach.
