London’s shortcut to impeccable style
Words: Alex Woodhall
The capital has no shortage of destinations for the sartorially minded man. From Savile Row to Selfridges, the fashion-conscious gent has more than a few options to outfit himself, but Harvey Nichols may have just cut to the head of a now chasing pack.
Having undergone a nine month refit, the famed department store’s menswear space has reopened, raising the bar for luxury menswear in the city. The two lower ground floors of the iconic Knightsbridge spot have been transformed into a contemporary space to suit every style, thanks to the 270 brands it houses – from timeless tailoring to classic off-duty attire and up-to-the-minute streetwear. And the 28,000 square feet of redesigned interior is as achingly stylish as the items it accommodates.

Adopting a customer first approach, the layout is no longer a mishmash of concessions, but a curated space whereby it’s easy to navigate. Items are grouped in a way that makes it easy to pick out what you’re after, whether that’s the perfect white t-shirt or some denim that’ll last you a decade; before being able to select the boots you want to pair them with just around the corner.

Dedicated entrances cut out the minefield of makeup and beauty that often leave us men stranded before we get to the good stuff, whilst the offering has been expanded to include a raft of exclusive collections and brands for the new space, including those from Casely-Hayford and 1205.
Also new to the store is an impressive style concierge suite with multiple dressing rooms – and I mean rooms -, a private bar and everything else you could possibly want included in the experience, which carries no minimum spend for the privilege. All, of course, tendered by expert staff who’ve been put through their paces to be up to scratch on everything menswear before taking to the floor.

Finally, the destination is also soon to house a new concept space, Project 109, which is due to have the ribbon cut in May and will host a range of specially selected brands and products beyond just clothing.
