Property – London’s Property Moguls
Do you want to know why you can’t get a foot on the property ladder in London? Or do you want to know why you laugh all the way to the bank with a hefty tenant’s cheque in hand? You see it’s all to do with London’s property moguls; an elite group of people who dictate – through subtle market manipulation – the price of property in London. Here are some of the main players.
Nick and Christian Candy
The ‘Candy Bros’ are not as sweet as their name suggests but have amassed a gargantuan fortune from renovating and building homes in London. Projects such as ‘One Hyde Park’ have resulted in their becoming billionaires and they now are amongst Britain’s richest men.

Gerald Grosvenor

The sixth Duke of Westminster is one of the country’s richest men and owner of the Grosvenor Group property corporation. It’s unclear how much control (and involvement) this blimpish old Duke has over his own company, but one thing’s for sure the Grosvenor Group are the biggest boys in London property.
David and Simon Reuben

The Indian born brothers originally started out in the metal business in Russia but have moved into the London property market with their company Reuben Brothers. Their portfolio includes the Millbank Tower and Connaught House amongst others.
Charles Cadogan

Cadogan is almost a clone of Grosvenor – both went to top public schools, both had short careers in the army and both have inherited the family property company (in Cadogan’s case it is Cadogan Estates).
Wang Jianlin

Chinese Wang is just one of many Asian investors who have been buying up millions of pounds worth of property in London. As China’s richest man and a high-ranking member of the CPC (the Communist Party of China) his involvement in the capital’s property market has been welcomed.
Ernesto Bertarelli

The Italian magnate has a background in the pharmaceutical business but his family’s company Serono was sold off in 2006. Since then he and his wife (apparently a former Miss U.K.) have been dabbling in London property with great success.
