Let Mr Marvis take your shorts to the next level this summer
Introducing the Dutch brand that’s about to become your holiday go-to
When it comes to shorts, Amsterdam-based brand Mr Marvis makes one simple claim: its are the perfect pair. It’s a bold statement, for sure, but one that this relatively new kid on the block (the brand launched in 2016) can more than back up.
Like most great ideas, Mr Marvis was born out of a frustration with the less than optimal shorts available on the market. You’ll recognise the struggle – if the fit’s right, the fabric isn’t great; if the fabric is good, the pockets are too small etc etc. So Mr Marvis’ founder, Steven Vrendenbarg, set out with one mission in mind: create the ultimate pair of shorts.
This, however, meant more than just perfecting the ultimate fit (which they have). Vrendenberg also wanted to create shorts that looked as good in the city as they do on the beach, were fitted with hardware that wouldn’t fail after the first wash, fabrics that wouldn’t shrink or fade and, of course, could be produced sustainably and ethically. And, thus, the Original Short was born.
This incredibly versatile chino short is crafted from a high quality Oeko-Tex and Better Cotton Initiative certified cotton twill, tailored to just above the knee and, as of spring/summer ’20 is available in more than 40 colours, as well as a range of Liberty art prints. Designed with a timeless, slow fashion approach, while you might have trouble choosing your first pair from the vast range, Mr Marvis promises never to replace, but only ever expand, its range – so you never have to worry about your favourite shorts being discontinued.
Like all Mr Marvis shorts, the Originals are designed in Amsterdam and handmade in Portugal using locally sourced, high quality fabrics, fastenings and labels to ensure a responsible supply chain and the lowest carbon footprint possible. In addition to this, even though Mr Marvis’ shorts are built to last for years, because it perfected the design from the get-go and does not tweak it season and after season, the brand never carries overstock and never sends unsold product to landfill. Simply put, every pair of Mr Marvis shorts ever created will end up in the hands of a customer who will treasure them.
You won’t be surprised to hear, then, that the Original short was so popular Mr Marvis soon expanded with new styles for dedicated occasions. If you like the Originals, you’ll love the Piqués and brand new Seersuckers, which offer the same perfect fit as the Originals but in 100% organic certified cotton piqué snd seersucker respectively. Lightweight and casual these were shorts designed expressly for enjoying summer to the fullest.
There’s also a range of classic swim shorts and a collection of sport shorts made from 88% recycled post-consumer plastic bottles. Got a little one at home? Let Mr Marvis’ Juniors range for children aged 2-13 take care of their wardrobes as well.
