Launch of Gregory Peck: Style Archive of an Icon at Huntsman

Another day, another SS15 London Collections: Men party you might say. Right? Wrong. This LC:M party was a little different as it was held in celebration of a particularly dapper icon, and a favourite of The Gentleman’s Journal, Gregory Peck.

The stars turned out to support the launch of the Gregory Peck: Style Archive of an Icon on Monday evening. The exhibition – which was showcasing five decades of tailoring from Hollywood legend Gregory Peck, by Huntsman of Savile Row – is now open to the public for one month at the Huntsman store and includes bespoke suits made for the actor over 50 years.

There are many incredible pieces from Peck’s rich cinematic history for visitors to enjoy. However, there are some particularly special garments including a dinner jacket worn to collect his ‘Best Actor’ award at the 1962 Oscars, the iconic overcoat worn in The Omen and a recreation of the frock coats worn to film the Million Pound Note.

Huntsman owners Roubi L’Roubi and Pierre Lagrange hosted the evening which saw Peck’s children Anthony and Cecilia joined in attendance by a whole host of stars including David Gandy, Guy Pelly and Jack Guinness. To keep them refreshed and replenished, guests drank Chivas cocktails and feasted on Gressingham duck, Roe deer and Hereford beef canapés, as they danced to a 50s-inspired selection of Peck’s favourite jazz and lounge tunes lovingly curated by his youngest son Anthony. He explained: “These are all the songs we used to dance to together in our home, which was always full of incredible people – from Frank Sinatra to David Niven.”

The party wasn’t contained to inside the building either. Outside, a selection of cars – including an Aston Martin Shooting Break, Bentley Star, Mercedes Sports E-Class and a Range Rover Gun Bus – owned by Huntsman CEO Pierre Lagrange, were parked outside ready to transport close friends to and from the party.
