Kingsley Re-Engineered, the beloved coachbuilder that’s restored more than 500 Range Rovers and Land Rovers, has added to its finely tuned programme with an upgrade on the heroic Range Rover Classic. Coming off the back of the Land Rover Defender series, the wonderful heritage design has been given a fresh spin, something that’s most notable on the inside. Rather niftily, there’s a refined instrument panel and centre console – around this general area, the wood veneer, clock and buttons are faithful, but new features include a digital dashboard and Apple CarPlay – which aren’t too far from the windscreen de-mist vent, a feature that has been elongated. In terms of the wider scheme, an outdoorsy feel is expressed via the Brewster-green exterior, and an interior that showcases chestnut leather, ancient Black Watch tartan, and boxweave carpeting.
As is standard of the maker, the car calls upon a 4.6L high torque V8 engine and a four-speed automatic gearbox. A fully adaptive TracTive suspension is there to help the vehicle cope with the increased torque and power (there’s a max speed of over 120mph). “We firmly believe this to be the best and most thoughtfully re-engineered [Range Rover] Classic in the world,” states Kingsley. It’s available in two- or four-door configurations, and prices start at £220,000.
