Want hair like Jeremy Allen White, Emmy Award winning star of The Bear? We'll show you how
Words: Zak Maoui
FX's biggest show, well, ever, is The Bear. A programmed about cooking, it catapulted Jeremy Allen White AKA Carmy to the heights of fame, and in turn got a whole legion of guys and girls (his girlfriend Rosalia among them) interested in the young actor. Why? Well his unique look, for one, spawned a whole "year of the hot rat" movement, while no one quite has hair as good as Allen White.
It's the sort of nonchalant, laid-back mess that sets arty types aside from their counterparts. It's full of secrets. It's golden. It's curly. It's loose. And it's doesn't take hours in front of a mirror to get it that good. He doesn't care too much, but then really does care about it. And we care about it. So much so that we asked our go-to barber Joe Mills, cutter to the stars and founder of Woolf Kings X, to tell us exactly how to try and get the shabby cut.
"Jeremy Alan’s white hair is a classic example of a low-maintenance hairstyle that looks effortlessly stylish," Mills says. "This look is perfect for those with thick, slightly wavy hair or medium curls. It’s a style that’s easy to manage and showcases the natural texture of your hair."
"To achieve this look, you’ll need your hair to be about three to four inches long all over, with the top slightly longer for added volume and movement. When you visit your stylist, ask them to maintain the length while focusing on adding texture, especially towards the top and front. This will help enhance your natural curl pattern and ensure that the haircut is easy to style."
"For styling, start by shampooing and conditioning your hair with Kevin Murphy Killer Curls, which is perfect for defining curls. After towel drying your hair, apply a generous amount of Woolf Kings X Leave-In Curl Cream throughout. This product will help to nourish your curls and keep them looking defined without weighing them down."

"Next, use a hairdryer with a diffuser attachment. Tip your head upside down and dry your hair on a low heat and low speed setting. The Dyson hairdryer is an excellent choice for this, as it provides gentle, even heat that won’t frizz your curls."
"Once your hair is nearly dry, flip your head back up and use your fingers to shape and position the hair. You can use the hairdryer to remove any remaining moisture, but be sure to keep the heat low to maintain the integrity of the curls."
"To finish, apply a small amount of Oliver Woods Black Seeded Wax—about the size of a 2p coin—by working it through your hands and then evenly distributing it through your hair. This will give you definition and hold without making your hair look stiff or over-styled. The result is a natural, polished look that’s both versatile and easy to maintain."
