How to get Jacob Elordi's messy haircut
Our go-to barber Joe Mills, founder of Woolf King's X, details what you need to do to get hair like the Saltburn star
Words: Zak Maoui
Jacob Elordi is a modern day Hollywood heartthrob, with a wildfire career that has only gathered heat and haste. Since he was in 2018's Kissing Booth, a role that he'd rather you didn't ask about, he's gone on to star in some of the biggest films and television shows out there.
Euphoria had him appear alongside Zendaya, while Sofia Coppola's Priscilla saw him take on the role of Elvis and scoop a BAFTA nomination, as did 2023's Saltburn. Now he's set to portray Frankenstein's Monster in Guillermo del Toro's film named after the mad professor, while he's been cast as Heathcliff in Greta Gerwig's Wuthering Heights.
And he's got the look. He's 6"5 with dark eyes and a chiselled jaw. But most of all he's got the nonchalent flicky hair you'd expect of a Gen Z leading man. It's styled in the right places, but doesn't look like hours have been spent taming it.
Today barbers are being asked how to get his hair, and as a consequence, we thought we'd find out exactly what goes into getting Hollywood hair. Below Joe Mills, founder of Woolf King's X, details what you need to do and ask for to achieve locks as good as Elordi.
What cut to ask for
"Jacob Elordi’s hairstyle is a sleek, modern cut that combines subtle texture with a polished finish," Mills explains. "This style works well for straight or slightly wavy hair and can be low-maintenance with the right approach."
"To achieve this look, you’ll want your hair to be around three to four inches long on top, with the sides cut shorter for a neat, tapered finish. Ask your stylist to maintain a soft, layered texture throughout the top to allow for natural movement and a slightly tousled appearance," Mills continues. "The sides should blend seamlessly for a sharp yet understated look."
How to style your hair
"For styling, start by washing your hair with Kevin Murphy Maxi Wash and use Hydrate Me Conditioner to maintain the condition of your hair," Mills says. "After towel-drying, apply a tangerine sized amount of Kevin Murphy Body Builder."
"Next, use a hairdryer and a vent brush on a low heat setting to dry your hair. Use the brush and direction of air flow to dry your hair over to the side and push the fringe back. For added volume lightly scrunch with your hand while drying to encourage natural lift and texture. The Dyson hairdryer is my choice here, as it delivers gentle, even heat that won’t damage your hair."
The finishing touch
"Once your hair is dry, use your fingers to shape the top for a textured slightly messy side sweep with volume through the top, make sure the back is fully dry and blow dried neatly, yet with a natural look. If needed."
"To finish the look, use a small amount of Woolf Kings X Fibre Styling Paste. You should start with about the size of a two pence coin. Rub it between your hands and distribute evenly through your hair to add definition, some hold, and a texture side sweep. You can add a little Hair spray to help hold and maintain the style in needed."
