The 911 is a staple of the Porsche line, past and present, and in celebration of the Targa’s 50th anniversary, the company have released the 4 GTS. Rolled out at the Detroit auto show, the new Targa has the inner-hallmarks of a racecar with power further increased, performance enhanced and the traction of the all-wheel drive a genuine thing of beauty.
The PDK spec offers 430 bhp, goes from 0-60 in 4.3 seconds and has a top speed of 187mph. While you also have the option of manual, which comes in at a max of 188mph, accelerates to 60 in 4.7 seconds and retains the 430 horsepower.
All the typical GTS features make an appearance, the Bi-Xenon main headlights including the Porsche Dynamic Light System in black, GTS badging and SportDesign exterior mirrors. The characteristic Targa bar makes a defining appearance, of course and the Carmine Red paintwork is available on the 911 models for the first time.
The hybrid hard top-cum-convertible roof is the first thing you notice and is just one of the features that make this an aesthetic marvel. The powerful front, broad rear, 20-inch wheels and the plush black, Alcantara-covered interior culminates in a stunning addition to the Targa family, one worthy of the 911’s storied-history.
