Introducing: Ferrari 458 Speciale A

Introducing: Ferrari 458 Speciale A

A new Ferrari release is always something worth shouting about, but the recently announced Ferrari 458 Speciale A is particularly special. Its 4.5-litre V8 produces 597bhp and it features a retractable roof, but that’s not all.

If reports are correct, it will be the last ever naturally-aspirated car to come out of the Maranello factory, cementing its position as a modern-day classic before it’s even hit the road. Don’t expect to see many of them about though, as only 499 will be made, meaning it’s as rare as the LaFerrari.

Under the skin the 458 Speciale A is identical to its hardtop brother, meaning the same engine and seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox are present. Like the hardtop, the cabrio has been on a diet too, featuring lightweight alloys and a new exhaust system. This equates to a stellar 0-60 time of just 3.0 seconds, which is nearly half a second quicker than the standard 458 Spider.

As you’d expect, the 458 Speciale A has been aggressively styled, looking noticeably more focussed than the standard car. Its angles challenge those of an Aventador, and in this eye-catching yellow, striped livery is bound to turn a few heads.
