Introducing: Beats Solo2 Wireless Headphones
Words: Guy Aubrey Devito
‘Beats’ has become a byword for the ultimate personal audio experience and although the company founded by Dr Dre was sold to Apple this summer, you can be sure that the brand will continue to excel at producing headphones and electronics of the very highest standards. After all, Apple are hardly known for attaching their name to inferior products.
The Beats Solo2 Wireless Headphones are the first headphones released by Beats since their takeover by Apple, and you can see how the computing giant has stamped their mark on the design – though they retain similarities with earlier headphone models by Beats. Beats Solo HD was the model that elevated the company’s profile – from national recognition, through to international reverence. Whilst the ‘spirit’ of the brand is much the same, Beats no longer want to appeal to young, hip music lovers – they are coveting a much larger audience.
The Beats Solo 2 Wireless Headphones are significantly less bulky than their predecessor and one could argue that they’re more gender neutral. The sound quality has drastically improved which is an obvious plus and they fit more naturally to the head meaning for those going jogging, or being bumped about at rush hour on the train, your headphones won’t go flying. Like the old Beats Solo HD headphones, you can easily fold them, making them easy to store in a coat pocket or bag.
The most exciting innovation is perhaps the removable ‘RemoteTalk’ cable, with this nifty accessory you can adjust the volume, switch between songs and receive calls – all without having to get your device out. This again adds the much needed practical side to ‘Beats’ – without sacrificing any of the cool.
The Beats Solo2 Wireless Headphones are specifically ‘designed for sound’ and ultimately they greatly improve on past models in terms of the quality and durability of the accessory. Although this is an exciting start for the Beats By Dr Dre brand under Apple, this is just the beginning and surely we’ll see even more exciting Beats products in 2015.
