With a name like ‘Vulcan’, big things are expected from Aston Martin’s new supercar. Thankfully the styling looks to live up to the billing.
Last week the Gaydon firm released a video to let the public know how the forthcoming model will sound, with its V12 bellow encouraging to say the least. The car was largely kept in the shadows though and it is only now that Aston Martin has revealed pictures of a brand new model, designed for track use only.
With a 7.0 litre V12 under the bonnet, the Aston Martin Vulcan will produce more than 800bhp, with that power being transferred to the rear wheels via a six-speed sequential gearbox and a carbon ceramic prop-shaft. That drivetrain will sit in a carbon fibre chassis, keeping everything extremely low in weight.
As you might have guessed, the Vulcan has come about with huge influence from Aston Martin’s racing team, and the new supercar will be able to be tailored to each owner’s requirements thanks to adjustable suspension and its engine control unit.
This will give drivers the full endurance experience, all aided by the offer of an intensive track driver training programme, lead by Le Mans winning factory driver Darren Turner. Theoretical and practical elements of the programme are designed to enable owners to get the most out of their new uber-toy.
The Vulcan will be given its world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show on 3rd March and Aston Martin has already confirmed that just 24 examples of the stunning machine will be built. You can view the teaser video here:
