Aston Martin has unveiled a limited edition of its smallest model – the Aston Martin Vantage GT3. Inspired by the firm’s endurance racing cars, the production model will feature a new version of Aston Martin’s 6.0 litre V12 engine, which will produce in the region of 600hp.
Considering the Vantage GT3 weighs 100kg less than a standard V12 Vantage, progress is likely to be extremely brisk. It’s not just the engine that has been fettled with though as Aston Martin has called upon its experience with racing programmes around the world to tweak the Vantage’s aerodynamics and structure.
The styling has been inspired by the Le Mans winning GTE machines, with a track focused aerodynamics pack including a large rear wing and front splitter. A wider track at both the front and rear, and extensive use of carbon fibre has helped with the weight reduction and dropped the centre of gravity.
Combine this natural agility with Michelin Pilot Super Sport tyres and the Vantage GT3’s handling potential is sure to be impressive. Set to be built at Aston Martin’s Gaydon headquarters, the production run has been confirmed at just 100 cars worldwide. The car is set for its official debut at the Geneva Motor Show when further details will be announced.
