So we thought it was high time to share some of our favourite Instagram accounts that you simply have to follow. Kicking off this new series in style, our humble offering to you is the incredible Chris Burkard (@chrisburkard)
A self-taught photographer and artist of phenomenal calibre, California-based Burkard is an adventurer through and through. With images focussing on surf, outdoor lifestyle and travel subjects, they are also accompanied superbly by dazzling landscapes, moments of bliss and adventure seeking.
Heavily focussing on the ocean, Burkard has consistently captured this subject in timeless and expansive photographic impressions, focussing on surfing to approach the ocean’s intricate personality and then extending it out to include the human personalities that draw meaning from this same source.
The wilderness, remote destinations and offbeat landscapes, Burkard’s images look at the minuscule insignificance of humans in contrast to nature.
At just 29, Burkard has established himself as a known name in the surf and outdoor industries. His phenomenal images have drawn clients such as Apple, Microsoft, Volkwagen and Sony to his door, and you can surely see why.
