Just as the car you drive and the watch you wear are clear barometers of taste, the sunglasses you choose also say a lot about your personal style. Indeed, the right pair of shades can instantly add effortless cool to any outfit - take some of the most famous looks of timeless style icons such as Steve McQueen, John F Kennedy and Alain Delon, and you’ll see their choice of sunglasses have defined many of their most recognisable ensembles.

Capturing a sense of classic elegance but with a contemporary outlook that appeals to the modern gentleman, Roveri Eyewear combines cutting-edge design and technical innovation with high-performance materials and Italian craftsmanship, resulting in luxurious frames with durability and finesse.

Inspired by the precision of fine timepieces and the aesthetics of exclusive automobiles, the pioneering spirit of the brand and its passion for using new and unexplored material combinations was born from Roveri founder, Michele Claseri’s, deep affinity with the values and traditions of his home city of Bergamo in Italy.

While Bergamo is famed for its high-quality textile manufacture and mechanical industries, it is less known than Italy’s major fashion cities Milan, Rome and Florence, with their well-established global designer brands. However, Bergamo has in fact been the birthplace of countless illustrious designers, stylists, chefs and Italian entrepreneurs, making it a hidden gem for experiencing some of the finest cuisine, architecture and fashion in Italy.

Continuing the city’s historic legacy of manufacturing quality and expertise, and keeping it relevant for the future, Roveri was founded on extensive research and development, producing limited edition collections, for which every component for each frame is sourced, tested and hand-assembled in Bergamo.

As a way of showcasing its connection with motoring, Roveri Eyewear has collaborated with Gunther Werks, the California-based restoration specialist that reimagines Porsche 911s, to launch a new concept of open-air driving sunglasses, capturing the essence of a Gunther Werk’s modified high-performance Porsche’s, which pay homage to the original models that were produced 25 years ago.

Combining UDCT® carbon fibre and Beta-Titanium, this capsule collection has been designed to embody the unique blend of exclusivity and attention to detail that characterises all Gunther Werks’ creations. The manufacturing process to create each frame is incredibly meticulous, requiring 240+ minutes of CNC machine cutting and 150 unidirectional carbon fibre layers - a material only seen in high-end watches and hypercars - for the production of each frame.

There are two sleek models in the collection - The Carbon Noire and The Sterling Bronze - and each frame is fitted with the highest quality premium AR or Polarized lenses to ensure superb, clear vision and 100% protection against UV rays.

Perfect for a road trip in a bespoke Porsche 911, we’d say…
