Words: Gentleman's Journal
With a name like HYSWAS Tetrahedron Super Yacht, this had to be something paranormal. It’s fair to say that box has been ticked. This concept is unlike anything to have chartered the seas – or hovered above them, for that matter – as the luxury of Twizzle meets the architectural engineering of last year’s RIBA House of the Year winner.
The design of the Tetrahedron encorporates a HYSWAS hull – Hydrofoil Small Waterplane Area Ship – which will cause the boat to a levitate over the water at high speed.
It blends the yacht and aviation worlds, as an auto-pilot ‘fly-by-light’ system from the aviation industry will take control of difficult roll forces and maintain ‘foil bourne’ speed. Long distances will be achievable, with reduced out-of-water drag meaning that stormy ocean conditions will be ironed out – good news for those with a tendency to fall foul of sea sickness.
So, the HYSWAS Tetrahedron meets the key performance attributes of a super yacht. But, uniquely, it does it while looking like nothing else that has come before.
