How to stay stylish in the summer heat
Words: Charlie Thomas
With the current heatwave encumbering Britain, many of us are struggling to wade through the sweltering heat. Public transport is particularly hideous at this time of year, and after arriving at work in the morning you’d be forgiven for looking a little more than worse for wear. This newfound heat is a surprise to many of us, meaning a few wardrobe changes are needed if we are to survive under the sun. Here’s how to stay stylish in the heat.
PAY ATTENTION TO FABRIC

The easiest way to stay cool in the heat is to pay attention to which fabric you are adorning your body with. At the very least stick to natural fibres, as man-made materials such as polyester and nylon won’t breath, making you even hotter. We’d recommend opting for a lightweight cotton or linen for your trousers, shirt and blazer, the latter of which should be unstructured to allow a greater range of movement and ensuring ultimate lightness.

PACK LIGHT

This is perhaps an obvious one, but it’s worth stressing nonetheless. Whilst this won’t be an issue if you drive to work, packing light is a must if you are avoid taking part in an unwilling workout on your commute. First, invest in a quality briefcase such as this Montblanc number above (you can find far cheaper alternatives but this will last you a lifetime), and then strip back what you bring to the bare essentials. Think laptop, pen, notepad, keys and you’re pretty much good to go.

WEAR LOAFERS

We’ve already discussed how loafers are the only shoes you need this summer. Numerous styles are available on the market, but stick to the classics like penny and tassel loafers, and you can’t go wrong
