Behind The Brand: Harrys of London
Words: India Gladstone
Since the first London store in South Audley Street in London’s Mayfair opened in 2008, Harrys of London has continued to go from strength to strength. Alongside the Mayfair locale, the brand set up shop in Burlington Arcade in 2010, but has now expanded to the Middle East with one in Dubai, two in Kuwait and a fourth opening in Saudi Arabia at the end of the year.
The idea behind Harrys of London, which is designed by Kevin Martel, is to re-imagine traditional men’s shoe design with the use of technically advanced materials. The creation of the sleek, sporty lines and soles – the popular Downing loafer as well as the unconstructed Basel loafer – have become the iconic designs for Harrys of London. What ultimately sets Harrys of London apart from its competitors, other than the fabulous design of the shoes, is the unique sole which is based on a design used for performance windsurfing shoes and adapted for the wet streets of London.
Harrys of London aim to provide customers with innovative, contemporary footwear with a luxury aesthetic that are defined by exceptional quality, design and functionality. The shoes are made by highly skilled craftsman in Tuscany and Naples, Italy, and use cutting edge technology and ethically sourced materials.
Whether you’re buying for work or for more casual outfits, Harrys of London is a brand that we recommend every gentleman invests in.
