Floris, the world’s oldest independent family-owned perfumer was founded in 1730 by Juan Famenias Floris and is still family-operated, nine generations down the line. Floris fragrances have, over the course of the company’s long history, been favoured by the likes of Beau Brummell, Marilyn Monroe and, famously, HM Queen Elizabeth II. Turnbull & Asser are also a brand rich in history who were founded in 1885 by Reginald Turnbull, a hosier, and Ernest Asser, a salesman. The brand has since become the go-to for gentlemen all over the world for impeccable shirts, ties and suits. So what happens when two brands of this stature, with heritage at the forefront of their collaboration, come together?
Both companies have connections as regal as they come – Floris received their first royal warrant in 1820 and garnered almost 20 more over the years, with two remaining today from Queen Elizabeth II and HRH Prince of Wales; Turnbull & Asser received their royal warrant from HRH Prince of Wales in 1980. And then there’s the clientele – both brands have a strong affinity with the likes of true icons such as James Bond and Winston Churchill, who made the Turnbull siren suit one of WWII’s most iconic garments. So it makes sense of the brands to come together as one, to unite over their passion for great British craftsmanship over their brand new limited-edition new scent, named 71/72 Eau de Parfum in honour of the veteran shirtmaker’s Jermyn Street boutique.

A limited-edition run of 200 bottles will be hand-poured at Floris on Jermyn Street when the fragrance launches tomorrow, May 25th, and sold at standalone Floris and Turnbull & Asser stores, as well as online. In another nod to the traditional nature of both Houses, each bottle of 71/72 will be personally named, signed and numbered by Ms Ellis as an assurance of quality, creating an item to cherish for years to come.
