With Bank holiday weekend set to be a corker, for the UK that is, it’s time to roll back your sleeves, grab the tongs and get the coals burning. As we’ve all experienced, barbecuing, despite the macho image that comes with it, is never quite what it’s worked up to be. Sure it creates one hell of a good smell, you get to take the lead and play with fire but, now let’s be honest, most of us our destined for doom before we’ve even thrown a sausage on the griddle. The worst part about the whole experience has to be the disappointed looks on friends’ faces as they bite into a burger that looks like it has been fried in the depths of Mount Vesuvius.
Ultimately, the issue for all of us is that, despite all of the reasons in favour of ditching the BBQ, there really is no way you are ever going to be able to put up a convincing argument to justify the ditching to your hungry crowd. Summer fun relies on barbecues. We’re the first to admit that a summer without barbecues is about as much fun as a summer without sunshine, which means you need to step up to the mark and get into character.
