Announcing the relaunch of the Gentleman’s Journal Clubhouse

Revamped and revived, we introduce the arrival of our all-new, all-access membership

In 2019, Gentleman’s Journal launched the Clubhouse, a kind of private sphere for dedicated followers of the brand, where members were given access, offers and experiences from a premium selection of labels and venues with whom we’ve made close connections over the years. The idea, in short, was to offer holders of the Clubhouse card a little peek into our world.

Four years later, and to celebrate over a decade of Gentleman’s Journal, we’ve extensively revamped this specific space, not only in terms of appearance, but also in its wealth of offerings, creating an all-new, all-access Clubhouse membership.

First, we've moved away from the pared-down, black-and-white – and, frankly, austere – design of the original portal, and have, instead, steered towards a more vibrant aesthetic anchored around pastel tones (blue, lilac and peach, specifically); handsome, flowing san serif typography; understated smart touches; and a general feel-good preppy spirit that not only evokes the exclusive, yet welcoming, community ethos of the members’ clubs of the previous century – but also hints, at the minimum, to the joyful, colourful buffet of goods that come with it.

This fresh, new look is also evident in our new membership card – which not only unlocks your benefits, but arrives in a membership pack that’s designed with blue-Pantone-coloured mailers and is presented with an exclusive welcome letter, along with latest issue of the magazine. “In this age of digitised Apple Wallets and invisible contactless payments, pulling out a handsome, stately card is a rare, almost-forgotten pleasure. (Just ask Patrick Bateman. Although he took things to a rather more stabby conclusion than we’d suggest.)” so says Gentleman’s Journal founder Harry Jarman. It will also be showcased in our newly designed members’ portal, and will be further illustrated on our Events page, which will land on our site shortly.

When it comes to the Clubhouse benefits, those who sign up to the membership will receive two of our bookazines – one in summer; the other in winter – every year, with each issue packed from spine to edge with exclusive features and interviews for you to keep leafing through in the months ahead. There will also be access to tailor-made, paywalled long-reads on our site – available only to members – in which our writers go deep on a tight yet eclectic selection of glorious and controversial topics, which, in the past, have included the Shah of Persia’s most expensive party ever thrown, a dark look inside London’s gangster clubs, and the secret behind F1 driver Max Verstappen’s success.

Beyond great content, members will, as has always been the case in the past, be given offers from – and benefits to – exclusive clubs, restaurants, bars, gyms, hotels and brands, all of which have been handpicked by us. Notably, there will be special access to the famed members’ club Upstairs at Langan’s; 15 per cent off best available room rates at DUKES London hotel; 20 per cent off rentals at The Out; and 15 per cent off full-price items at Sunspel, ideal for when you want to stock up on some new Supima cotton T-Shirts. Further retail experience also comes in the form of a 15 per cent discount off selected brands at Gentleman's Journal Shop, including makers of high-style sneakers LØCI; sunglasses specialists Curry & Paxton; and Aubin, which is feted for its wears that give heritage styles a contemporary slant. You will also receive first access to exclusive product collaborations and releases between Gentleman's Journal and shop partners.

Then, when the occasion arises, we’ll also be bringing our members together in the same space, as, throughout the year, we’ll be hosting a small roster of one-off events in some of the UK’s most exclusive locations, whether that be for post-work libations, seasonal dos, brand-partner launches or industry-led panel talks.

Of course, with such things, there always comes the small details, and so, to join our Clubhouse, there are two options: a one-year plan, for £59.95; or a three-year plan; for £129.95.

Revamped, revived and having finally arrived, we hope for the new era of the Clubhouse to be a space for likeminded fans of the Gentleman’s Journal brand to once again get a glimpse into the places and things we value. So, please, come on in – the water, as we’ve long said, is lovely.
