Fraq’s Lobster Shack restaurant review

Fraq’s Lobster Shack restaurant review

Fraq’s Lobster Shack is the hottest, hippest new seafood joint in town. The restaurant that opened in December has proved to be a hit with critics and consumers alike and aims to provide Londoners with the very finest ‘fruit of the sea’. Affordable and unique, the Goodge Street based eatery offers the very best in seafood rolls.

The restaurant was founded by brothers Andrea and Alberto Fraquelli who are the third generation of Fraquellis to enter the restaurant trade. The ethos of the restaurant is simple enough; it aims to maintain the pleasant, traditional Maine lobster shack atmosphere – whilst also providing a dollop of NYC cool. The grub is classic East Coast seafood, with a wonderful array of subtle twists and distinctions.

The Gentleman’s Journal team were treated to a delightful selection of Fraq’s food and suffice it to say we were’t disappointed. The hot prawn and avocado roll was creamy, flavoursome and tangy all at the same time – best of all though it was light enough to enjoy as a quick lunchtime snack. The calamari club roll and the Boston roll (filled with squid and lobster respectively) were equally delicious and again filled us up without stuffing us.

The sides of French fries and zucchini fritti (deep fried courgettes) provided a perfect accompaniment and proved to be very tasty grazing fair. For anybody who wants a restaurant that’s unpretentious, chic and authentically East Coast, look no further than Fraq’s Lobster Shack in Fitzrovia.
