Forget Boxing Day, the sales have started already
Words: Alex Woodhall
Boxing day is the shopping day of the year. Forget Black Friday, Panic Friday or any other tabloid conjuration, the day after Christmas has been the day for the best deals for the longest time, until now.
This year, retailers have pulled the trigger early, slashing prices in an effort to provoke some late gift buying and early splurges and we’re inclined to participate. So whilst the uninitiated, uniformed and most likely unwashed rise, at the earliest of hours to raid the Boxing Day bargains, you can have already done your last spending spree in for 2015. Start the New Year on a stylish note and bag yourself a new wardrobe before the fireworks have even been placed, let alone lit.
These are the picks from around the web for you to empty your bank account on:
ASOS
Set to be a big trend going into next year, suede jackets have a timeless air and this modern take on the biker is well worth the investment.

Whistles
Every gentleman should have a camel coat in his wardrobe. It’ll pair with your working wardrobe and your off-duty attire, serving overtime throughout the current winter and many after that also.

The sales often make a great time to stock up basic essentials, such as these elegantly simply navy chinos.

Gieves & Hawkes
Start planning and dressing for the job you want, not the job you have. The end of the year is a great time to pick up suits in the sale and you can never go wrong with something cut by those at number 1 Savile Row.

Whilst you’re picking up some tailoring, you might as well revamp the rest of your formal wardrobe.

Uniqlo
Uniqlo somehow manage to prove even better value for money than usual come sale time, a must visit for a raft of wardrobe essentials to ring the new year in with.
Where else are you going to get a wool and cashmere overcoat for less than three figures?

Matches
A great time to pick up what would usually be considered luxury items at a more reasonable price. Whilst these are only gloves are they’re still by no means cheap, they are quality leather and you’re going to get a serious amount of wear from them.

Alternatively it’s time to pick up that holy grail style piece you usually couldn’t afford, like this dunhill field jacket that’ll form the backbone of your wardrobe for many years to come.

Time to start thinking about the spring and summer also, however hard that might be to imagine. Off-season pieces are often hit by the biggest price cuts, perfect if you’re both forward thinking and sartorially inclined.

Reiss
Tailoring that might usually be out of reach, suddenly looks a lot more appealing and despite the current price, Reiss never skimp on the quality.

FarFetch
FarFetch may a mission to search at times but there are plenty of genuine gems to be found. The artisanal Parisian brand, Officine Generale being one of them. These jeans are as close to perfect as they come.
