Five things women want you to learn this week
Words: Vincent Lim
There are a lot of lessons in life, here are a few for this week.
Bounce back harder.
He was on a losing streak this time last year. Now, however, he’s gone on to reclaim the world number one spot after winning two majors on the trot. A few weeks ago it seemed that his high-profile split with his former fiancée, Caroline Wozniacki, could have been the start of an even more devastating spiral; but that’s been far from the case. McIlroy went on to win at Wentworth within the week, and has now won his fourth major at the tender age of 25.

Flair will get you anywhere
Arsenal’s win over Manchester City in the Community Shield yesterday was both a victory for the Londoners and a victory for style. Often berated for focusing too much on the aesthetic of football, Arsene Wenger’s team silenced their critics yesterday by waltzing to a comfortable win over their opponents. Beauty and efficiency need not be kept separate.

Sacrifice and you will be recognised.
Stuart Broad’s performance in the cricket this past week has been nothing short of excellent. His bowling was top notch, giving England a sizeable upper hand; when batting, however, after having hit successive sixes, a high ball passed through a gap in his helmet, leaving the England player with a match-ending injury. His desire to return and play with a mask, despite fracturing his nose, has earned him plaudits from around the cricketing world.

Petulance is the mark of a child.
Justin Bieber’s recent altercation with Orlando Bloom, after having disturbed the actor’s dinner with Leonardo Di Caprio, is a perfect example of how not to behave. The world’s response has been one of unwavering support for Bloom, who decided to take action in defending his ex-wife, Miranda Kerr’s, name. Bieber’s provocative Instagram upload, referencing the fight, only served to fan the flames and when you act like a child, you’re going to be treated like one.

Always be prepared
The recent bouts of utterly unpredictable weather have caught out millions in the UK. Take an umbrella with you just in case; even if you don’t think you’ll need it, she’ll appreciate your preparedness.
