Words: Gentleman's Journal
Rob Reiner’s new film, And So It Goes, is set to be released in UK cinemas on July 18th. Michael Douglas stars as Oren Little, a self-made real estate agent that loves to be hated. Happily the community’s Scrooge, Oren is desperately trying to sell one final house so that he can retire in peace, alone. His plan is thwarted though, when his estranged son dumps the nine year old granddaughter he never knew about on his doorstep, and Oren seeks the helpful hand of his neighbour Leah, played by Diane Keaton. While resistant at first, Oren has to learn to open up to the people around him, and as a result he gets to experience life in a way he never has before.
While the plot isn’t groundbreaking, the film looks to be filled with quips and digs that will keep you laughing throughout. This is Douglas and Keaton’s first appearance on screen together, and it is eagerly anticipated. Michael Douglas has been constantly impressing in his return to the screen since his battle with cancer in 2010. Having won Best Performance by an Actor at the Golden Globes for his role in Behind The Candelabra, hopefully he will continue to impress and entice audiences as he has done throughout much of his career.
