, It’s safe to say that when it comes to action movies, there is no greater love match than the legend that is Harrison Ford. With iconic characters such as Indiana Jones and Han Solo topping his resume, his magnitude is formidable but could his interpretation of Colonel Hyrum Graff be his next big hit?
His latest character comes from new sci-fi/adventure Ender’s Game, a film that follows the International Military as they fight against an imminent alien attack on planet Earth. Ford stars alongside a string of talented newcomers, those of which include True Grit’s Hailee Steinfeld and Little Miss Sunshine’s Abigail Breslin, but the real star is Asa Butterfield (The Boy in the Stripped Pyjamas). Butterfield plays Ender Wiggin, a shy but supremely gifted student, who stands out amongst his classmates as a potential leader in the war against the aliens (or the Formics). Wiggin is trained by International Fleet Commander Mazer Rackham – played by British treasure Ben Kingsley who also starred alongside Butterfield in Oscar winning family hit Hugo – a heroic soldier who fought the Formics in their previous attack.
The film, which is written and directed by Gavin Hood, is based on the 1985 novel by Orson Scott Card and is packed with meaty characters, tense cliffhangers and tons of special effects. You will leave the cinema feeling suitably pumped and exhilarated. We say it’s definitely worth a watch.
