Whilst many of us will dream of one day purchasing a Mercedes-Benz or a Porsche, the uber-rich are aiming their slights just a little higher. There are a number of vehicles available today that cost as much as small countries, and although they may not be made of solid gold, they do offer unrivalled exclusivity and ultimate bragging rights for their millionaire owners. Whilst not always the best looking or quickest in a straight line, these cars are all extremely rare and, at the end of the day, that is half of what you’re paying for.
LAMBORGHINI VENENO ROADSTER – $4.5M (£2.67M)
The Veneno Roadster is arguably Lamborghini’s most striking car ever. And that’s saying something. Its ridiculous looks are backed up by a ridiculous price tag, and of course a 750bhp, shrieking V12.
BUGATTI VEYRON 16.4 GRAND SPORT VITESSE – $2.5M (£1.48)
Whilst it’s no longer the fastest car in the world (the Hennessey Venom GT took that title), the Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse is still one of the most expensive, and powerful. It’s now legendary 1,200bhp engine can propel it from 0-62mph in just 2.6 seconds.
LAFERRARI – £1,150,000
The LaFerrari was one of the most highly anticipated Ferraris of all time and, with its 950bhp hybrid powerplant, the fastest and most powerful too. It’s just as stunning to look at as it is fast, and with the McLaren P1 and Porsche 918 it represents the future of the supercar.
KOENIGSEGG AGERA S – £905,000
Another car in the 1000+bhp club, the Koenigsegg Agera S is a true marvel of engineering and, although slightly slower than the Bugatti, many would argue that it’s better looking.
MCLAREN P1 – £866,000
Power is slightly down on the Ferrari at 903bhp and, at least on paper, it appears to be slower. Many believe though that due to its innovative active aerodynamics and incredible carbon ceramic brakes it could beat a LaFerrari on track. Time will tell, but the price difference between the two certainly makes the P1 appear to be the better deal.
