Ex Machina – A sci-fi film that is more fact than sci-fi

If the entirety of Ex Machina is anything like its two minute trailer, then it will be one gripping film indeed. Set in the not-so-distant future, it’s a film about trust, loyalty and discovery, all of which are aspects of life us humans are all too familiar with. When applied to a robot though, things become more interesting, as the trailer shows.

Caleb is a well-respected 24 year old coder who wins a competition to spend a week in the mountain home of his company’s cloistered CEO. Upon arriving he discovers that he must take part in an intriguing experiment, which involves speaking to and interacting with the world’s most advanced artificial intelligence ever. It just so happens to be contained within a beautiful female robot.
