Everything You Need To Know From Paris Fashion Week AW15

Words: Alex Woodhall

Paris’ premier fashion event had a strong male presence this season, not that we’re complaining. Providing us with a few shocks as well as style moments to mull over, here are all the menswear moves that mattered across this season’s event.

SQUARE PRINTS

-Kolor, APC, Paul Smith

Square prints were a big deal in France and Brit presenting abroad Sir Paul Smith had a strong quadrangular showing across his autumn-winter show. In fact his collection as a whole was one of the highlights of the event. This unintimidating print made multiple appearances, offering up a clean way of adding a strong visual element to any ensemble.

GREY ON GREY

-Wooyoungmi, Hermès, Lanvin

A key theme from Milan, monochromatic ensembles in shades of grey made it across the border, signalling in a key trend to watch out for next year. From Hermès to Wooyoungmi, grey on grey or more appropriately, gris-sur-gris, was a prevalent force in Paris.

STATEMENT OUTERWEAR

-Louis Vuitton, Dior Homme, Valentino

Strong, statement outerwear stole the show at many a collection. Ranging from bold colours to eye-catching prints on everything from overcoats to duffle coats, cold weather cover-ups were injected with plenty of personality ready for next winter.

KEY COLOUR: GREEN

-Umit Benan, Ann Demeulemeester, Berluti

If grey on grey was the combination of choice, green was the colour that stood out on its own merit. In a range of hues to choose from, ranging from more militarised olives to much darker washed-out tones, the easy-to-wear colour made a lasting impression; one we’ll be sure to pick back up this time next year.

RICK OWENS

-Rick Owens

Without a question the American caused the biggest stir with his much talked about show. Featuring full frontal nudity, the cult designer, roused a bit of a commotion with his revealing clothing. Aside from the exposure, there were one or two wearable takeaways, the peacoats in particular looked rather exceptional.
