Spectre is coming. Slated for a 6 November 2015 release, filming has started for the Sam Mendes directed James Bond 24 and rumours are rife regarding details surrounding the set. We’ve been blessed with a small stream of information regarding Craig’s reprisal since it’s announcement and it wont be too long now before the credits are rolling and bullets are flying. Here’s everything we can tell you about the new Bond film so far…
CAST AND LOCATIONS
The film was announced at the backend of last year with the cast unveiled to the public for the first time. Craig reprises his role, obviously, whilst the girls are France’s Lea Seydoux and Italy’s Monica Bellucci; cast as Madeleine Swann and Lucia Sciarra respectively.
Guardians of the Galaxy actor Dave Bautista will be playing a henchman called Mr Hinx and Sherlock star Andrew Scott will star as a Whitehall-based character named Denbigh. Oscar winner Christopher Waltz is on-board as the antagonist known as Oberhauser, rumoured to actually be old Bond nemesis Blofeld.
Ben Whishaw, Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris and Rory Kinnear will all be returning to the franchise.
Spectre has been shooting around Europe in locations such as London, Austria and Rome; although the latter hasn’t been all too hospitable to 007 and cohorts, vetoing a number of locations picked for filming.
BUDGET
The Sony hack and leaks during the latter half of 2014 spilled some details on the production’s budget; Spectre is shaping up to be the most expensive Bond yet. Despite efforts by studio chiefs to slash the budget by around $50million, the film is currently coming in at in the mid-$300million range.
THE CARS INVOLVED
The big one. The Aston Craig will be driving has been unveiled as an upgraded DB10. On top of that, we’ve been treated to the line-up Jaguar Land Rover will be lending to the film, a Range Rover Sport SVR, Land Rover Defender Big Foot and a striking Jaguar C-X75.
BEHIND THE SCENES FOOTAGE
A package recently put out to the public from the production team on Spectre has given us a great insight into one of the biggest action scenes in the film. The exclusive behind the scenes look shows the aforementioned 4x4s racing down an alpine track in Austria, and Craig himself in action as Bond.
IT’S POSSIBLY PART OF A TWO PART SERIES
All key cast members are signed on for two films, Spectre and Bond 25, and rumours and sources are hinting toward Spectre being only one half of a two part series. Bond will be meeting two characters from his past in this film, and one “will be very much part of his future”. It appears the Spectre spectacle could be going on a little longer than we first thought, although it’s not known if Sam Mendes will be returning for the next instalment in the franchise.
