Editor’s Picks: Brioni tuxedo, LG wine fridge and Aston Martin Roadster
From a pair of sleek, black suede sneakers to a collaboration between Ruark Audio and Linley, this is what we want this week…
Words: Jonathan Wells
With the Oscars rearing their golden, statuesque heads for another time this week — and A-list actors from around the world stepping out in their best red carpet get-ups — we’re feeling very glamorous.
As such, we’ve picked out a belter of a Brioni tuxedo and a pair of red carpet sneakers. We’ve set our sights on an award-winning supercar — and we’ve also laid our hands on a wine fridge perfect for storing celebratory champagne. So join us in our decadent mood, pour yourself a glass of bubbly and take a look at what we want this week…
Popping corks: LG Signature Wine Cellar
For something with so many bells and whistles, this wine fridge looks surprisingly restrained. From LG — yes, them of the old mobile phones — this big brushed steel appliance has precise temperature control, vibration control, UV resistance and hands-free controls — presumably if you’re carrying one magnum too many. But our favourite feature? A cool drawer that can store the finest cheeses, steaks or anything else edible to go with your Malbecs.
Top speed: Aston Martin Vantage Roadster
We knew it was coming. Hot on the wheels of the new Aston Martin Vantage, this drop-top version has come roaring over the horizon with good looks, a new grille and a hefty price tag. The same AMG-sourced 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 is burbling away under the bonnet, but we all know that the convertible is a superior model than the hard-top. They’re just cooler, you know?

Turn it up: Ruark x LINLEY Tempo Radio, Monochrome Edition
It’s a pretty confident move, naming your speaker the ‘Black Tie’ edition. That suggests it had a level of pedigree and superior engineering other speakers just don’t have. Thankfully, Ruark has the technology to back up the boast — and the Linley-designed marquetry on this collab makes it even sleeker. Finished off with a solid rocklite chamfer and a soft goatskin-clad front panel, it’s the perfect speaker to soundtrack your red carpet walk.

Frame it: Fragment 8 Retro Camera
Who doesn’t love a retro touch? We know we do — in everything from our wardrobes to our garages. Here, the vintage look hits our tech collection in the form of Fragment 8’s new digital camera. With the look of 8mm film, this nifty piece of (relatively cheap) kit embodies the bright and soft appearance of the mid-century classic analog film. With natural tones, subtle colour changes and slight discolouration, you’ll have ‘grammable GIFs aplenty in no time.

Lace up: Unseen Footwear Saviour in Suede Black
A black suede sneaker is one of the most versatile pieces in a man’s wardrobe. You can slip a pair on with your suit, tie them up with jeans or wear them alongside your smart-casual office look. And we’ve found some of the best. From Unseen Footwear, these kicks have a classic skate silhouette, luxury Italian leather construction and that all-important, goes-with-anything colourway.

Red carpet ready: Brioni Grey Evening Jacket
We all saw Brad win big at the Oscars, didn’t we? And wasn’t he looking sharp as he collected his much-deserved award? Well that’s all thanks to Brioni. And, with the brand’s grey evening jacket, you too could look as good as Mr Pitt (well, almost). In a luxurious mix of premium cotton and silk, this shawl-necked jacket has a velvety appearance, sophisticated flair — and is perfect for any upcoming soirée or formal event in your diary.

Take the jump: Ralph Lauren Aran Wool Cashmere Jumper
From one film star to another. Did you catch modern murder mystery Knives Out last year? If not, you not only missed out on a cracker of a film, but also a corker of a jumper — worn by Chris Evans’ preppy acerbic cad of a character. This Ralph Lauren Aran wool-cashmere sweater is cut from a similar cloth; cable-knit, loose of fit and with nonchalant cool knitted into its spun construction. And, as the cold snap seems to be continuing, it’s very toasty too.
