The complexity is derived from the use of Palo Cortado sherry-seasoned casks, second-fill Spanish red wine casks, and first-fill Marsala casks and the results are spicy pear, melon and peach notes on the palate before giving way to a long, chocolatey, and peaty finish.
Baudoin & Lange Grand Varenne Loafers
We love a loafer in all months of the year, although the thought of aquaplaning on some congealed foliage or a patch of black ice forcing an impromptu Michael Flatley impersonation is often enough for us to forgo them in favour of a hardier, terrain-appropriate alternative. Founded by F1 racing driver Jenson Button and spirits expert George Koutsakis, the team at Coachbuilt don’t do things by half measures, and their 18-Year-Old FW18 Williams Racing Edition is a testament to this. Named after the Williams FW18, a car that is regarded by many as one of the most successful F1 designs of all time, this blend (matured in both ex-sherry and ex-bourbon casks) is as punchy as the FW18 was around the circuit; there’s vanilla, chocolate and cinnamon on the palate, and the chequered flag waves as we enjoy a smooth and rich finish.
