Drink – whisky stones

The Gentlemans Journal stone 2

You know that thing when you’re about to start drinking a fantastic, aged, delicious whisky and you realise the bottle’s not quite cold enough? But, obviously, you can’t put any ice in, because ice would dilute the whisky, and when it’s costing about a tenner a sip, diluting is the last thing you want.

Well, that won’t be a problem any more. Thanks to the launch of Teroforma whisky stones, your whisky will never be too hot again. Made of soapstone from the oldest soapstone mill in Vermont, these hand-cut cubes have been a hit in the US for a few years now and are only just launching over here now. They cool the whisky without diluting it, and don’t alter the flavour or odour at all. The stones are based on an old Scandinavian tradition, and are much gentler than ice.

If you’re a connoisseur of whisky, or simply just enjoy the odd glass of the good stuff every now again, you need these stones. They’d also make a wonderful present.

Teroforma whisky stones cost £20 and are available from Selfridges, Habitat and Master of Malt. For more information, visit teroforma.com
