Dress like Bond: Anthony Sinclair’s Conduit suit
Words: Charlie Thomas
James Bond is often considered to be one of the best dressed movie characters ever. Synonymous with classic British style, he’s noted for his sharp wit and even sharper tailoring, which has kept him looking stylish on his countless globetrotting missions.
While Daniel Craig’s Bond is arguably the best dressed of them all, it was Sean Connery who kicked things off, and as such, his looks have gone down as some of the most iconic of all time – something every gentleman can learn from. And when one thinks of the early James Bond’s wardrobe, there’s one particular suit that comes to mind: Anthony Sinclair’s Conduit Cut suit.
What makes this Anthony Sinclair suit so special?
The classic grey suit in glen check worn by Sean Connery in Goldfinger exudes sophistication, with its clean lines and classic British cut. Conduit Street tailors Anthony Sinclair were originally approached to create the suit from their bespoke tailoring workshop, and they hit the nail on the head. A three-piece, it was perfect for the jet-setting super spy, with its slim notch lapels, two-button construction, straight-flap pockets and ticket pocket.
It seems only right that Anthony Sinclair would now bring back the Conduit Cut suit, named as such because of the location of their original store. It’s available as the brand’s first ever ready-to-wear suit, so you can dress like 007 himself with minimum effort.
How is the suit made?
The suit itself boasts all of the original details. It’s constructed from a mid-grey sharkskin, four-season 9oz worsted wool, woven in Italy by Carlo Barbera. Available in either a slim or regular fit, the jacket’s natural shoulder and roped sleeve-head allow for an ease of movement that you only find in the finest hand-constructed garments. If it’s good enough for James Bond, it’s good enough for any gentleman.
