Diary – Filth premiere

Words: Violet

We’ve been excited about Filth for a while now. It’s the new film based on an Irvine Welsh book – another such movie, Trainspotting, may be our favourite ever film. Filth is even darker, even weirder and even more depraved. It sees James McAvoy playing a badder-than-bad copper whose wild lifestyle starts to play serious havoc with his mental health. By turns laugh-out-loud funny and terrifyingly twisted, Filth premiered last night in London.

The after-party was at INK LDN, a newly-opened bar in Leicester Square. Welsh (who continually referred to his kilt as a ‘man skirt’) and McAvoy were joined by fellow stars Joanne Froggatt, lovely in a Herve Leger bandage dress, up-and-coming star Imogen Poots, Tamzin Outhwaite, Gail Porter and Jordan Stephens (from Rizzle Kicks). They all sought comfort from the macabre horrors of the film in traditional English dishes (fish and chips, mushroom risotto). But it wasn’t an entirely sober affair – INK LDN created a ‘filthy’ cocktail of vodka, lime juice and ginger beer.
