Over the years, the Beckhams have owned plenty of homes. From a flat in Cheshire to ‘Beckingham Palace’ in Hertfordshire, many of these were based in Britain. But there’s also been a holiday home in Dubai, a villa in the South of France, one mansion in Madrid and another in Beverly Hills.
They’ve also picked up keys to an apartment in the Burj Khalifa, a rural estate in the Cotswolds and even a penthouse in Miami. But the Beckhams' latest acquisition, which sees them back in Florida’s most sun-soaked city, is a modern waterfront home for which the power couple paid $72.3 million (£57.2 million).
It’s a modern, minimalist home on Miami Beach’s lavish North Bay Road. 14,270 square feet of severe angles and plate glass, the property was designed by Florida-based architecture firm Choeff Levy Fischman. “We crafted this tropical, modern home with a sophisticated blend of materials, including Ipe wood, Perlato marble, dark bronze doors and window frames, and metal accents,” says Raphael Levy, a partner at the firm.
“It also showcases a seamless and inspiring connection to the water,” he adds. “Three bedrooms, including the primary suite, offer sweeping vistas of Biscayne Bay — and nearly every room throughout the house has views of the reflecting ponds or pool.”
Sitting alongside the sweeping, dramatic entryway, the Beckhams will not only enjoy these reflecting ponds as they approach their new home, but also a statement cascading waterfall. Water features, fittingly, play a central role throughout the entire waterfront property, with an infinity pool also stretching out along the home’s 124 feet of water frontage.
There’s plenty of greenery, too. A two-storey living wall is a particular highlight, and the landscapers ensured that the many ‘Carolina Palmetto’ palm trees can be seen from every public space in the house. Tightly trimmed hedges surround the home, and both a rooftop deck and marble patio offer expansive outdoor spaces.
Inside the Beckham’s new nine-bedroom home, Antrobus Design Collective has furnished and decorated each space in a modern, minimalist style. Among the property’s amenities, the couple will find a dedicated office space, a fully equipped gym and even a spa.
There’s also a home theatre and a garage fitted with car lifts that’ll prove handy for David Beckham’s car collection, which is thought to currently include a Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupé, a Maserati MC20 and a Jaguar F-Type Project 7.
Three of the nine bedrooms, the largest and most well-appointed, offer views out across Biscayne Bay, while all feature ensuite bathrooms with large skylights.
The kitchen, too, is a treat — with enough space and facilities for the most adventurous chef to flex their gourmet muscles. The property even features an outdoor kitchen — the perfect place for the former footballer to set up his favoured Ninja Woodfire Grill.
Constructed by luxury homebuilder Bart Reines and sold to the Beckhams by Dora Puig of Luxe Living Realty, the home is a worthy addition to a long, global list of properties — and the perfect base from which David Beckham can keep a close eye on the Major League Soccer team he co-owns, Inter Miami CF.
